We're sitting at a highway intersection with two bars of cell service, so we thought we'd take advantage of the situation and fire up the air card. (That's right, we bought an air card!) Slowly but surely I've successfully published posts that recap the last couple days. They were eventful!
Today has been much better. The weather has cleared and we've enjoyed a day trip around Port Gibson. The highlight was lunch at the Old Country Store, which featured the World's Best Fried Chicken, collard greens, black eyed peas and the best peach cobbler I've ever had! Chicken Master Mr. D serenaded us during lunch, and we washed it all down with some ice cold sweet tea.
Yes, were are definitely in the South.
Tomorrow we're heading toward Montgomery, Alabama. Along the way I'll do the best I can to catch things up on Bullwinkle's Travels. There are lots of fun pics stored in my camera. And, yes, we have a few stories to tell.
Meanwhile, I hope ya'll enjoy our chronicles of our days in Mississippi.

I absolutely love a good storm. It's one of the things I do love about the south. But I wouldn't want to be in the big middle of it! Way to hunker down, y'all!

When you are near Great Smokey National Park...
See Rock City, you'll get it when you see all of the signs :)
Gatlinburg Tenn, Sevierville:you can make your own karaoke cd at Big Mama's Karaoke.
Cherokee Reservation Casino if you wish, small place.
Biltmore Estate, ok, but pricey, $48 ea. for walking self guided tour plus $6 for cassette rental. Some are impressed, some regret the dollars. OK, we get it they had money.
Chimney Rock, good deal.
If you go due east before Hilton Head, Hilton Head???, must have a golfer on board, nothing else there :) Myrtle Beach would be better for the golfer in you, over 100 courses.
Anyway, you could go east and end up on Outerbanks and then go south on 17. If you choose to consider that...after the long bridge to the beach, on your right about 3/4 of a mile is a state rest stop, very nice, easy access in and out. They have all of the brochures. You could easily spend a week here up and down 90 miles of great beach not as developed as Hilton Head or Myrtle Beach. If so, please see...Currituck Lighthouse, Whalehead Club, Best Breakfast: Jolly Roger: mile post 4 1/2 on beach road, Best Karaoke: Jolly Roger Weds. night, see Wright Brothers Memorial Nat Park, Climb Jockey's Ridge, on causeway to Manteo have lunch at Lone Cedar Rest., visit Manteo waterfront, return to beach and travel to Ocracoke Island (Blackbeard's haunt), on the way there you can visit Bodie Lighthouse and Cape Hatteras Lighthouse, suggest you check on ferry status for big rigs and for scheduling: they are run by state and are free. If you make that trip either ferry to Jacksonville NC and on to 17 south and MB and HH or return to Manteo area and exit Outerbanks via 64 west (in the day time(isolated)) and catch 17 south near Williamston. You will be happy you didn't miss the Outerbanks and Myrtle Beach. Good Luck. Hope this helps. Sorry if you have already been there, I didn't read all two years of your blog.
