Of course, there's plenty of opportunity to spend money at a rally like this. I passed on the chance to buy a variety of nifty silicone bakeware items at the Sharp Microwave class this morning. But, we did pick up a nifty new signal finder to help us point our TV antenna in the best direction to pickup digital signals. We're thinking about replacing our batwing antenna with a thing called "jack", but we're not quite sure about that. And, of course, there are lots of beautiful new motorhomes here available for purchase. But, we're all good in that department.
There's one thing we're thinking about, and we're asking for your help. After over a decade of being DirecTV customers, we're a day or two away from jumping over to Dish Network. To make a long story short, we can get HD satellite programming with our existing dome through Dish Network only. So, if we want HD, that's really the best way for us to go right now. And, with three HD TVs on board, we'll take all of the HD we can get.
Before we jump ship, we'd love to hear from you readers who are current or former Dish customers. Tell us about your experience and let us know if you would recommend 'em. We really appreciate your help.
We look forward to hearing from you. Thanks!

We talked to the Dish folks today at GNR and learned about the RV program and the ability to get HD programing on the enclosed auto receiver. I am thinking about a move but also have no experience with Dish.
We've had DISH since we sold our house. DISH lost their ability to have distant networks (east and west coast access to ABC,NBC, CBS, FOX) You have to contract separately with a company to get those (in HD or standard digital) OR if you are lucky enough to talk DISH into it, you can call DISH every time you move and give them your new campground's address as your "physical address" as opposed to your billing address and thus get local channels from whatever city you are in. If you are in a city large enough to be part of the DISH network. For example, there are no local channels at Diamond Cavern RV Park in Park City, KY. HOWEVER, I gave them a Cincinnati, Ohio address and got Cinci local channels, so you can fool them sometimes. Mechanically, we've replaced a receiver once for problems, but mostly we changed receivers as upgrades without hassles or problems. Are they any better or worse than Direct? Nah. Maybe cheaper if you don't do the distant networks through the affiliate company, but I think it all works out about the same in the long run. Also, we operate off a tripod, not a roof mounted dish like yours. And occasionally we'll get a rep whose parents RV or fulltime so they are comfortable dealing with RVers. Don't know if that helps, but overall, we're content with DISH.
WE LOVE our DISH. We started out with Direct and couldn't get them to give us one "on the move". Dish came out three times to set us up and there's been no problem. They change our area for local in seconds. Very friendly. If you want email Jim for details.
We are still DirecTV customers so really can't add anything there..
Good luck on what you choose.
We have dish, but don't bother to try getting local channels while traveling. We're not full timers. One thing I've experienced with dish that upsets me is that they won't allow us to have a DVR receiver in our rig because they "prefer their equipment to remain stationary". That's what I was told on the phone anyway.... sooo, I have to mess with an antiquated VCR and resetting the time and channels everytime we move to a different location if there's to be any recording. If anyone has any help for that situation, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE let me know!!!!!
